Song of the Year 2013

Kiss it Goodbye by Nickelback

Outside of the rock genre, it was a pretty ho-hum, no-hum year for music. My song of the year, an unapologetic rant against the musick sic(k)  moguls of the entertainment industry, wasn’t officially released or given any airtime.  As the song goes, “It’s tough to see through bull–it when it’s up above your eyes

Song of the Year 2012

Bitter End by Veer Union

Although acknowledging a very good Try from P!nk and a Christian Rock band called Thousand Foot Krutch that Let the Sparks Fly from what was easily the best album of the year (albeit not one you will find on any of the mainstream lists), Bitter End merits top spot on strength of a never say die message for a year when hope was in such short supply:

… alas this one was actually a song from 2007 that was re-released on the 2011 as part of the Transformers Movie soundtrack.

Song of the Year 2005

Nothing stands out here either.  In the absence of any serious contenders from 2005, I’ll pick an old song called We Were Meant to Live” by Switchfoot on the grounds that I just stumbled onto it this year.
